March 2019. High Street Junk Food Report

The UK Health Forum and Food Active have conducted research, commissioned by Public Health England, which reveals that food and drink such as sweets, chocolate, sugary drinks and biscuits are readily available across many non-food retail outlets, with two fifths (41.2%) of retailers selling food and drinks also offering promotions on these products. There are concerns that this increased availability could contribute to an increase in the buying and eating of less healthy foods by individuals, potentially increasing their likelihood of becoming overweight or obese.
